Wave is free invoicing plus free accounting inside a Wave account; your data lives on Wave's servers and may be shared for marketing. MonkeeTools is invoicing only with no account at all: your business details, clients, and history stay in your browser. Choose Wave if you want bookkeeping. Choose MonkeeTools if you want the invoice without the platform.
Zoho Invoice is the most generous free invoicing product and has an excellent privacy policy, but it still requires a Zoho account and stores your data on Zoho's servers. MonkeeTools requires no account and stores nothing, so the privacy difference is architectural, not promised.
If your clients pay through PayPal and you are happy, stay. But know the math: PayPal takes 3.49% + 49¢ every time a client pays a PayPal invoice, and your invoice data lives on PayPal's servers inside a PayPal account. MonkeeTools takes no cut at all, needs no account, and stores nothing. If your clients pay by Zelle, check, cash, or your own payment link, you are paying PayPal for nothing.
No. There is no subscription, no per-invoice charge, and no payment processing cut. If a client pays you through your own Stripe link, Stripe's own fee applies, but MonkeeTools itself never takes a cut.
No, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. MonkeeTools is built by an AI and one human, so there is no support team to call. If having a human on the phone matters to you, a bigger platform with real support staff might be a better fit. What you get instead: an automated FAQ helper on every page, release notes that document every feature, and a public feedback board that reaches the people who build the tool.
Yes. The switching tools exist for exactly that. Import your client list from a CSV file instead of retyping it, and if you change devices, a transfer code carries your business profile and client list to the new one with nothing uploaded.
